Friends of the Beaufort Library, Osher Lifelong Learning, and Santa Elena Foundation have put a trip to Spain together using Island Travel to connect us with our Spanish roots.
Between now and April 2018, classes and special events will focus on Spain and our history related to the early Spanish settlement at Santa Elena, now Parris Island. Click HERE for list of classes and events or email FriendsBeaufort@gmail.com.

Apr 14: Arrive at hotel in Madrid.
Apr 15: Touring Madrid
Visit the Prado Museum. Reception with Count.
Enjoy a lavish reception with Count Alvaro Armada Barcaiztequi of Guemes. The Count, a member of the Santa Elena Foundation Board, is a direct descendent of Pedro Menendez, the original Spanish settler who established the Santa Elena colony, now Parris Island. You will have a chance to hear the family lore related to this historic event and view artifacts still in the family.
Apr 16: Madrid > Cordova > Seville
Visit the Alcazar, Medieval Jewish Quarter and 8th Century Mosque of the Caliphs. Dinner.
Apr 17: Seville
A full day of touring and visit the Plaza De Espana.
Apr 18: Seville > Granada
Tour the Alhambra complex, a 13th century citadel.
Apr 19: Granada > Valencia
Cross the Mora Pass and see the Troglodyte Cave Dwellings then visit the former capital of Spain. Dinner.
Apr 20: Valencia > Barcelona
A scenic drive along the coast brings you to the home of the 1992 Olympics.
Apr 21: Barcelona
Highlights include the Columbus Monuments, Plaza de Cataluna and Sagrada Familia Basilica and much more. Farewell Dinner.
Apr 22: Barcelona
Following breakfast, travel to the airport for your journey home.
