Children’s Programs

The Friends support and assist with the programs planned for all age groups by the Children’s Librarians at our three branches – Scott Street in downtown Beaufort, St Helena and Lobeco.

The programming varies from branch to branch.   You can locate the programs you are interested in by event, age group, or branch by accessing the Event Calendar on the library’s website – beaufortcountylibrary.org.

A sampling of programs includes Tiny Tot Time (0-4), a variety of Book Clubs, Teen Advisory Board, various weekly club meetings, as well as special holiday events, special speakers, and of course, the Summer Reading Program!

The theme for 2017 Summer Reading is “Building a Better World” and will run the months of June and July. Consult the branches for exact dates and a list of special events! Printouts of monthly programming are available at each branch.

The Friends are always looking for volunteers to help with children’s programs. If you have a love for books and would like to help nurture the love of reading in our youngest of readers, please contact the Children’s Librarian at your branch or the FOL Children’s Programming Coordinator. Volunteers are needed as presenters (perhaps you have a talent or expertise you would like to share), assistants to craft and other projects, one-on-one homework helpers, the choices are near endless!

There is even the opportunity to read at Coosa Elementary School (weekly or monthly to a Kindergarten class)! Information on Coosa Elementary Reading opportunities can be arranged through Madeline Helser-Howard, Children’s Librarian/St. Helena Branch   843-255-6558 or mhelserhoward@bcgov.net
