The Friends of the Beaufort Library is a nonprofit organization that supports our three libraries in Beaufort, St. Helena and Lobeco.
Our libraries’ budgets don’t cover everything. They need help. That’s where the Friends come in. The money we raise through memberships and donations makes up those shortfalls. The Friends fund the programs, equipment, books, and workshops that are simply not covered by state or county budgets.
Those programs help children, teens and adults. Just some of the programs we fund help children learn to read and build skills to succeed in school and life. They provide workshops, computers, classes and events for teens after school. They help the unemployed prepare resumes, set up email accounts and learn to search and apply for jobs online. Hundreds use our libraries for free tax assistance every year.
Much more than borrowing books takes place at our libraries. We believe our libraries are the hearts and souls of our communities. Our libraries are the places everyone –regardless of education, age or needs—finds help and assistance in an atmosphere that is always welcoming. Whether they are coming for learning, for leisure, or for life, they’re coming to our libraries.
That’s what friends are for. And we hope you’ll join us.
